Iconic Luxury on the Chinese Riviera
Designed by Howard Rideout with B+H Architects’ office in Shanghai just before the 2008 Great Recession, this project has garnered great interest as Accor Group sought to build its first flagship lineup of luxury 6-star hotels. Sited on the shoreline of Sanya, this resort is one of a kind. The client was adamant that the design must be unique; even though Howard and B+H won the limited competition, the final design enhanced the already-won entry, which includes incorporating two residential towers into overall massing of the 400-room luxury hotel. This final design adds a finishing touch with the soft curve, linking all buildings into an enveloping group that encloses the pool and gardens — the signature mark on this line of haute couture hotels.
